Minuteman High School Building Project

Whether you’re a parent, a student, or member of our community, I welcome you to Minuteman.

This school year is certain to be like no other.  It promises to be an exciting one, perhaps the most significant in Minuteman’s relatively brief history.  On September 20, 2016, the District will hold a special election in its 16 member towns to decide whether we can move forward with the construction of a new school.  The referendum is the culmination of years of hard work by the District School Committee, the School Building Committee, our project consultants, and town and state officials.

Minuteman entered the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) funding pipeline in 2009, so it’s been a long journey for the District and for me.  It’s been filled with meetings, decisions, major successes, a few disappointments, and endless challenges.

During that long time, I’ve always kept focused on one goal:  doing the best for our students and for our region.  I think the project we’ve put together – a 628-student state-of-the-art school housing a slate of new high-demand career and technical programs in two Career Academies – does exactly that.

The way I see it, we all win big with a new Minuteman High School.  We resolve long-standing structural, mechanical, and code issues with the existing building; create a modern school building that supports innovation and meets current and emerging educational needs; help build a 21st century workforce that strengthens the region’s economy and sustains healthy property values; invest in the most affordable option for taxpayers, using more than $44 million in state funds that will go elsewhere if not used here; and safeguard the school’s regional accreditation.

With great anticipation and hope, I look forward to the voters’ decision on September 20th.

Welcome again to a great school with a promising future.  If you would like to chat, please contact me by email: ebouquillon@minuteman.org, on Twitter: @DrBMMHS, or by phone at 781-861-6500, ext. 7301.
