On a rainy almost snowy, Monday, 30 Rotarians, 19 (plus a little baby) visiting Concord Rotarians and our speaker meet at the Waxy O’Connor’s with President Jim S presiding. The Pledge of Allegiance was President Rosario Rizzo, Concord, one verse of American was Charlie V, and The Rev. John Lombard, Concord, provided the Invocation.

 

Happy dollars started with PP Dan Busa and $100 for another new store opening in Westford. PP Spencer B for missing the last few meeting because of WORK (not just because he was in New Orleans), VP Domenic gave the $20 he should have used to pay for his NCAA bracket, but he forgot to fill it out, P Jim S for so good news about his mother’s health, a few Concord Rotarians paid happy dollars for the our welcoming spirit and the start of the Red Sox season (Go SOX!).

 

Fines started out quickly as PP Bob Sacco was ‘whispering’ during the moment of silence for PP Robert Lyons. The Sargent at Arms Connie was fined for forgetting the bell last week and PP Don S tried to make an April fool’s joke the fell very, very short.

Raffle gifts were donated by lots of Vail Studios, Walpole Co-Op bank, Lexington Ace Hardware, Busa Wine and Spirits, Eagle Bank and West Concord Wine and Spirits.

 

ImageThe club inducted a new member, Andrew Bergmann from Geek Housecalls. Andrew grew up in Lexington and his classification is Information Technology.

Concord Rotarian Dick Hale celebrated 50 years of perfect attendance and in honor of that the Rotary Club of ImageLexington awarded him a Paul Harris Fellowship (his 8th). PDG Jack who has known Dick since childhood pinned the PHF.

 

Other announcements were, Comedy night is May 30th and tickets are now available. Please get your tickets early they are selling fast. Also if you want an ad in the program let PP Spencer know as soon as possible. We also need items for the silent auction as soon as possible.

On Saturday April 19th, we will be hosting a lunch for the Old Guard at Brookhaven and this is an all club event. The lunch will run from around 2 to 4 pm.

April 21st is Patriots day and Domenic is going to be sending out all the information on assignments soon.

District Assembly is April 16th at 3 pm in Danvers, if anyone is interested talk with PE Dave S as soon as possible. Finally Bob O is leading the NCAA basketball bracket competition.   

   

Steve Bulpett, a Boston Herald sports writer was our speaker. He has been covering the Boston Celtics for 29 seasons. He talked about many funny stories from the likes of Charles Barkley, Red Auerbach, Jonny Most and Tommy Heinsohn. He graduated from Dayton University and grew up in Lynn. My fingers are tired and I don’t feel like typing any more. If you want to know more about what he said you should have attended

PP Doug H won the 50/50 for $115.
