Meeting Notes

PP John O’D reported the results of Comedy Night. We netted over $15,000, a record year for the Comedy Night fundraiser, under the leadership of John. Thanks for a job well done, John.

PP Spencer B proposed a fine on PPs Dan B. and John O’D. for not showing up at a golf tournament last week. (nor did they attend last week’s meeting). John countered with a fine against Spencer for being insane enough to play golf after four days of rain that continued into Monday.

PP Bob S. proposed a fine on PP Dave E. who was sporting a new cast for not having a life line to alert his employees at C & W that he “had fallen and could not get up” while envisioning anxious parents on the way to the Karate Studio at 240 Bedford St. using him as a speed bump.

Pres. Murry reported on the District Conference in Mystic, CT which was a success. He highly recommends attendance by our future Club leaders. While at the conference Murry accepted three different awards to our club for Rotary Foundation contributions.

Pres. Murry then introduced Dana Farrill, the RYLA advisor at Minuteman High who called up the three students, Jackson Yip, Giulia Ratchelous, and Ryan Deveau who attended the RYLA camp this year. Each student related their experience at the RYLA camp and how it has affected their lives.

Our Speaker today was Bill Hadley, Director of Public Works for the Town of Lexington.

Bill explained the role of Public Works in providing a safe environment in our town. When we think of personal safety we think of the Police Department, property safety we think of the Fire Department. The DPW provides as much safety for our citizens by providing and safeguarding our utilities and infrastructure. Bill talked about the responsibilities of the DPW in building and maintaining our roads and buildings as well as the water and sewer infrastructure.

50/50 raffle winner was PDG Jack M. winning $70.00 which he distributed to the three RYLA visitors from Minuteman High.
