On a beautiful cool October day, 23 Lexington Rotarians, 1 Concord Rotarian, and our Speaker enjoyed lunch.  Acting President David Siekman stood in for P David S.

PE Jim S. led the Pledge; the first verse of America was by PSA Charlie V., and the invocation by PDG Jack M.   PDG Jack M. and PP Bob S. updated the club on the condition of PP Dan Lucas.  PP Dan L. is now under the care of Hospice.  Emails to him will be read to him by his wife.  You may email him at lukeiia@aol.com.

Raffle Donations were from Lexington Ace Hardware, TD Bank, Dr. Dan Olsen and PP Bill Cassell.

PP Dan B. modeled a denim shirt (size?) with the Rotary Emblem.  He will be providing more information regarding these shirts on the Website.  PP Bob O’. asked for a fine on PE Jim S. who did a great job on an article in the Colonial Times regarding the upcoming Veteran’s Breakfast, but failed to list a date.  Meaghan M. asked for a fine on ASA Dominic S. for failing to collect her raffle money. 

Acting President David S. reminded the club that we will be the host club for the annual Thanksgiving meeting with the Burlington Club.  We are looking for a quality speaker, please let him know if you have a name. 

Our club will be working with the Town on a Veteran’s Breakfast on Saturday November 3, time to be announced. 

Acting SA Dom S. and PP Doug H. both spoke on the recent District meeting that they attended along with P David S. 

PP Don M. mentioned that there was a nice article on Google regarding Rotary and their mission to end Polio, India has had no cases of Polio in over 1 year.

Melisa Tintocalis Economic Development Director Town of Lexington email: mtintocalis@lexingtonma.gov 

Melisa spoke about her role and experience.  She has been with the town for 6 months, prior to that she worked for the City of Somerville.  She lives in Arlington.  She sees her role as supporting businesses of all sizes in town to help with the permitting process and to be a liaison to other departments.  She talked in great length about Hartwell Ave and the Center.  She wants to make sure that Lexington remains a “Sustainable Community”.  She also mentioned that she is looking at parking in the center of town with a committee.  The vacancy rate in the Center is at only 2% while it is closer to 28% on Hartwell Ave.  Image
