On a sunny day in the high 80’s, 26 Rotarians and three guests joined together for a meeting of the Rotary Club of Lexington at Waxy O’Connors Irish Pub and Restaurant.  A lunch of steak tips and mashed potatoes was served.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by PP Frank.  America was led, in tune, by PP Dave.  And the invocation was offered by PP Bill.

Raffle Gifts were donated by Patriot Bank, Colonial Times Magazine and Walpole Cooperative Bank.

There were numerous happy dollars donated to the Club.  These included: Charlie V. gave happy dollars for his new car.  PP Dan gave happy dollars for his vacation and his makeup with 3 three members of the Mashpee Cub at a 7 am breakfast meeting.  PP Bill gave happy dollars for a unique solution to his puzzle.  PP Doug gave happy dollars in recognition of the Brits outstanding job at the Olympics.   PP Bob gave happy dollars for PP Doug’s intensive efforts to bring PP Bob’s lost sunglasses to his house.  Your author gave happy dollars for a great family vacation in New Hampshire with his siblings and their families amid cries of “Is that a vacation?”

ImagePP Murry had the honor of presenting a $1,000 Club donation to the Cary Library to purchase 100 copies of the book “Help Me Get Ready To Read”.  Accepting the donation were Ruth Lynn of Children’s Services at the Cary Library and the authors of the book, Barbara Kosok and Susan Marx.  Susan Marx explained that the book teaches people how to effectively read out loud to young listeners which promotes learning to read.Image

PP Murry then gave a very brief classification talk.  He explained that the best way to prevent periodontal disease is a clean healthy mouth including teeth brushing and flossing.   He first started practicing in 1973 focusing on periodontal therapy and over the years there has been a greater emphasis on dental implants.

The 50/50 Raffle for $60 was won by PP Ed.
