Our speaker for the day was Sam Doran.  Sam is a senior at Lexington Christian Academy.  Sam is a member of the Lexington Historical Society.  Sam’s topic was “Lexington through the Years” a series of essays by S. Lawrence Whipple.  Lawrence Whipple was a friend of the Doran Family and visited their house frequently.

Lawrence Whipple was a town historian but he didn’t think of himself as a scholarly historian.  On Patriot’s Day, 2010, a generous grant from the Dan H. Fenn/Lexington Minute Men Award allowed for the funds to put the essays together into a book, edited by our speaker.

Sam went through several of the essays in the book to the delight of those in attendance.  Many remembering with fondness the stories and names he mentioned.  Sam ended with some nice photos of historic Lexington, including Chiesa Farms.
