Gina Rada (grada@lexingtonma.gov) the district Director of the Veterans’ Services for Lexington and Bedford was our speaker. Gina recently transitioned from the Watertown office to the Lexington/Bedford position and this was her first time at a Rotary meeting. Gina, a 6-year veteran in the Air Force, grew up in Malden. Gina is a third generation veteran of the arm forces. She became passionate on wanting to help veterans collect the benefits that they are owed while trying to collect on her own befits after she discharged from the Air Force. She experienced the long hold times and the bureaucracy of trying to get the benefits that she was entitled to receive. At her current position she helps veterans and their spouses collect on the benefits they so rightfully deserve. Her office is located in the Senior Center, but will be moving to the new Community Center in June. An example of what she does is help with low income assistance, or Chapter 115 benefits, which helps veterans who need financial assistance. Gina lives in Bedford with her two daughters.
