Rotary Awards 16 Scholarships to Lexington Seniors

On a gorgeous Monday afternoon the rotary club of Lexington was thrilled to once again present our annual scholarship donations to the high achieving, deserving students in our community.

We dined on fish filets, pasta, rice and vegetables until the meeting came to a start. With 24 Rotarians and 34 guests present, PP Jim Freehling kicked it off with the Pledge of Allegiance, PP Dan Olson led a glorious rendition America and PDG Jack Maloney gave us a moving invocation.

The preceding night's success of our Annual Comedy Night led the charge for Happy Dollars. President Dave S, PP Dan Olsen, PP David Brother, Michelle Galbiati, PP Doug Holmes, PP Jim Freehling, and Andrew all gave healthy donations to celebrate the occasion. Thanks, was also given to both the Comedy Night and Scholarship committees for their hard work and continued success.
PP Don Martini gave a donation to commemorate his fathers well deserved recognition by the French government for his heroic action in WWII.

The main event of the day got underway with the head of the Scholarship committee  PP Jim Freehling speaking about how important this day is to our organization and how hard we work throughout the year to be able to make these and other donations to the community. He hopes that the recipients of these awards may think about joining Rotary or other service organizations once they are settled in their careers.

16 awards of $1000 each were given to students with a wide range of experience from LHS, Minuteman Tech, LCA and BHS. The group has high aspirations with their college choices and majors. We will be excited to hear of their many successes in the future.

PP Dave Eagle won the 50/50 raffle as is his way :)
