A Perfect Day to Enjoy Rotary Food & Fellowship

It could not have been a nicer sunny summer day than today, as 20 Lexington Rotarians and one visiting guest, for a total of 21 in attendance, gathered at Waxy's. We all enjoyed the lunch of chicken Marsala, rice, Caesar salad, sandwiches, mixed veggies and chocolate chip cookies.

Pledge of Allegiance was led by PP David S., First Verse of America by Charlie V., and the prayer was offered by PP Bill C. The Welcome Song was led by Charlie V.

Raffle donations were by the following: Patriot Community Bank, LPL Financial, Walpole Bank, Vail Studios, Rotary Club of Lexington.

Happy Dollars flowed: Meagan M for being able to attain a ticket for the last concert of the Grateful Dead, which was held in Chicago, PP Spencer B. for playing a terrible game of golf, but at least it was with his father-in-law, Allan A. for just being able to plain old relax and have a great vacation, PP Frank S. for a working vacation in China, in which he visited the cities of Shanghai and Beijing, PP Jim S for enjoying his new, and still floating! boat in Maine.

President Dominic made several announcements, including a thank you from Primary Infirmary for the donation by The Rotary Club of Lexington, a thank you note from the Eagle family to Rotary for their support during this difficult time following PP Dave's passing.

As this was an Assembly Meeting, President Dominic asked all committee chair people to be sure to have their committee write-ups by July 27, when District Governor Dave Manzi will be with us.  Chair people, please hand in committee reports to President Dominic next Monday, July 20.  PP Don S presented an idea that when we give out scholarships in the future, each scholarship should be in the name of a past Lexington Rotarian. There was much discussion and a general consensus. This will be looked into further. President Dominic mentioned a tasting event as a new venue for our cub to raise funds, perhaps to be held next February or March. More about this will come up as we further look into it.  Allan A. and PP Murry A. will be the co-chairs. Meagan M. mentioned the Farmers Market as an event the club could possibly help support.  PP Jim S. spoke about new members joining our club. He recommended we each try to bring in one new member.

The 50/50 raffle was won by worthy PP Bill C.

Next week, Monday, July 20, 2015, our speaker will be Colonel Michael A. Vogel,  66th Airbase Group Commander. He will speak on "Role of Hanscom AFB in Today's World." Present Dominic asks that as many of us as possible please attend, and also bring a guest if you would like.

On July 27, District Governor Dave Manzi will be with us.

Again, Committee Chairs: please don't forget to hand in your reports next Monday, July 20.  😊

Respectfully Submitted:

PP Murry A.
