PP Bob O'K Gives Classification Talk to Rotary.

Today was a beautiful summer Monday with only the first tiny hint of fall.

Fourteen Rotarians and no guests attended the usual fun filled meeting.

The menu consisted of the usual delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, yogurt and pastries.

Teri W. led the Pledge. PP Domenic S started the first verse of America and PP Nick C. gave a lovely invocation.

The raffle gifts were donated by Walpole Cooperative Bank and Wagon Wheel Nursery & Farmstand. I won chocolate chip cookies!

Happy dollars were plentiful today. Terry W. donated for her vacation in Martha’s Vineyard and told us of her association with the Polar Bears there. PSaA Connie N. gave ten happy dollars for the use of Eagle Bank’s conference room for her meeting. PP Frank S. donated for his 35 years of marital bliss. PP Don M. gave the usual five dollars for all members having correct change. PP Murray A. donated ten happy dollars for his trip to Montreal and Vermont.  PP Nick C. tried to use the early meeting time as a defense for no guests. We all paid our one dollar fine.

PP Domenic S. gave the club the district citation for all of our success of the last Rotary year. Only fourteen clubs in the district received such an honor.
Pres. Susan C read a moving thank you letter from a scholarship recipient.

Anyone owing dues, please talk to Treas. Donna L. to pay up!

The speaker today was PP Bob O. He gave his last classification speech about twenty one years ago! He spoke of growing up in the military, as his dad was an Air Force officer. He attended many different schools as a child. He moved to Lexington in 1971 and Treas. Donna L. was his first friend. He attended LHS and later became an EMT. He joined the Lexington Fire Department in 1981 and retired in 2013 after thirty two years as a firefighter. As his family was in real estate, Bob often changed locks and repaired locks, etc. He worked as a locksmith and his work ethic led him to buy Lexington Lock in 1988. He has employed as many as six employees in the past. He has expanded the business to service and sales and now has a storefront at 240 Bedford Street with a showroom where he sells safes, key fobs, regular keys and high security items. He does residential and commercial work including condominiums, business and anyone needing high security electronics. Bob spoke of some common issues such as lost keys, key fobs being left behind after a car has been started and is running, wet key fobs etc. Some vehicles cause more key replacement service such as high end Mercedes, Lexus and BMWs. In 2011 Bob and his wife started another business, Never Home Alone Pet Walking and Sitting, a very popular and lucrative endeavor. Bob joined Rotary in 1995 when membership was about one hundred. All were enlightened with Bob’s story.

My thanks to PP Jim F. for getting me started.
