Friends Forever Visits Rotary

On a beautiful, sunny fall day 21 Lexington Rotarians and 16 guests enjoyed a meal of chicken and broccoli alfredo. After the usual America, pledge and invocation President Dominick began the meeting.

Happy dollars were paid by PP Doug H. for his grandson’s cross country victory, for Rice U. beating Army in football, and for the Patriots win over the Jets.  PP Jim S. paid $5 for not being fined today (I suggest we not fine him every week…comes to about $250 a year, not a bad fund raiser!). PP Murry A. paid for his recent Mediterranean cruise.

Fines were paid By PP Murry for parking on PP Don M.’s sprinkler system LAST year at the Friends Forever cookout. I guess there’s no statute of limitations when it comes to fines. PP Jim S. paid a fine for improper remarks directed towards Julianne D. All he said was she looked lovely, which was true but we got him anyway!

Today we hosted 10 teenagers from Northern Ireland as part of the Friends Forever Program along with their adult chaperones. Friends Forever promotes empathy trust and friendship among young people from the Catholic and Protestant communities. These young people spend two weeks here in our country visiting various educational and historic sites and then return home and relate their experiences to their families and friends.
The 50/50 was won by new member Jeff T. for $60.
