On a sunny Monday afternoon, the weekly gab fest, better known as the Rotary Club of Lexington, took place under the tutelage of acting President David S. He rang the bell with vigor, took charge like the Red Coats, or more like the white coats in the movie, One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo Nest and welcomed 29 Rotarians and 2 guests. Rations provided by Waxy’s O’Connor’s included Sheppard’s Pie and for those watching their waste lines, Caesar Salad. Our Pledge was led by fast approaching 3rd VP Dominic, First verse of America by “The Voice Wanabe”, Charlie Vail, Invocation by PDG Jack and this author as your scribe for the day. (Editor’s Note: How come the author’s Boss didn’t get a funny name?)

Happy dollars were offered by Secretary Susan for her daughter’s surgery and helpful staff at Children’s hospital, PP Nick for his oldest grandson 15th birthday, holy smokes you are old Nick!!, PP Dave E, a graduate of the Thomas Menino Institute of Higher learning, tried to fine PP John O and PP Dan B for something regarding the gazebo but ended up paying a fine himself for confusion. Sounds like he qualified to be Mayor of Boston!!!

Raffle gifts were provided by Lexington, (I have a lawn mower for you), Ace Hardware, Bickling, (my real name is Madoff), Financial Services, Vail, (I guarantee blue hair), Studios, People’s, (I love overdraft fees), Bank, Walpole, (just like the prison), Bank, and Lexington, (can’t wait to build another float), Rotary Club.

PP Spencer announced there are 2.5 tables still available for Comedy Night, you snooze you lose, needs silent auction items by this Friday.  PP Dan stated that 400 tickets for the gazebo were sold, Michele G was put on probation at Eagle Bank because she was spending more time selling raffle tickets then bank work, sharp as a marble that one!!

PP Dan O requested participants for Sports Night to be held on May 28, time to be confirmed later, but plan 6:00pmish (Don’t forget to Accept or Decline to the invitation sent out this week). Acting President David S announced June 3rd is our scholarship meeting; a large attendance would be appreciated.

ImageThe speaker for today was Trisha Perez Kennealy, owner of The Inn at Hastings Park, www.innathastingspark.com previously the Dana Home. The zoning use for Bed and Breakfast was approved at Town Meeting, May 2012 and she hopes to open for business September 2013. The property is being fully renovated which will have 22 guest rooms with private bathrooms and a 54 seat restaurant. The menu was a major topic of discussion, PP Dan B wants a private stock of bone in rib eye steak, PDG Jack wants corn beef hash, and PP Dave E wants his steak cut up in little pieces, just like PP Jim F residents. Lexington has been designated as the 4th most visited tourist destination in Massachusetts, mainly due to the historical significance and Trisha truly believes this venue is a needed one for the town. Trisha introduced her first major hire, General Manager Daniel Brown, a Luxemburg lad, who speaks 4 languages and with previous experience at the Four Seasons Hotel, Boston and Castle Hill, RI. They have yet to hire an Executive Chef so I supplied her with the names of Trailer #2, Patriots Day “grille gang”. They have nothing to do anymore!!!

Question of the day: What was Hostess most popular selling product??

Enjoy, Your Faithful scribe, PP John O.
