It was a sunny and pleasant 59 degree day on the first of December at Waxy’s. 29 were in attendance to enjoy the luncheon of sandwiches, salads, fish, rice and vegetables. 27 Rotarians and 2 Visitors. With the ring of the bell, pledge lead by Past President Spencer Betts, 1st Verse of America by Past President Dan Olsen, and Invocation by Past District Governor Jack Maloney, the meeting was underway.

Fines and Happy Dollars

  • Past President Spencer for his birthday and Cancun vacation.
  • Past President John happy to be back after missing a couple of meetings.
  • Past President Doug Holmes gave happy dollars with Dec 1st marking his 40th anniversary of joining Rotary.
  • President Dave gave his thanks for Past President Jim Shaw for stepping in to attend the Lexington Burlington Football game this past week.
  • Past President Dan also adding to the happy dollars having just attended a memorable service for his Uncle Romeo in Ohio. 
  • Past President Jim Freehling with happy dollars for having Brookhaven residents who had the pleasure of visiting the White house. 
  • Fines for two tables without guests, and Past President Spencer’s quip towards Past President John.

Announcements

  • The club received photos and a thank you card from Friends Forever from their trip to Lexington this fall.
  • Toys for Tots are to be collected again next week on Dec. 8th and can also be taken to Brookhaven and Walpole Cooperative bank. New, and unwrapped toys are needed.
  • Past President Frank Spoke briefly in regards to our Sand 4 Seniors project (to be launching shortly).
  • The Boston Celtics are working with Rotary to offer tickets to games while donating back to the club, if interested in tickets please get back to the club shortly so that loge and or balcony tickets may be ordered.
  • Our Cash raffle winner Dick Michelson gave a generous donation back to the club and for yet another year of being a Rotary supporter we thank you Dick.

We were pleased to have had two speakers Part Perry and David Wells. Pat and David both spoke on the great service FISH of Lexington. FISH gives a ride a week to seniors in our community get to medical appointments. Both Pat and David are part time drivers for FISH. Pat spoke to the importance of the program and how easy and gratifying it is be to be a driver, and explained her role in recruiting. David spoke more in terms of the fun he has had with FISH and the great experiences he has had with meeting and helping such interesting people.Image
