Santa Makes a Surprise Visit to the Holiday Party to Help With Our Charitable Collection

 
On a cold, sunny day, 23 Lexington Rotarians, 23 singers and 16 guests gathered for our regular weekly meeting. President Susan C. rang the bell at 12:30 PM.
 
PP Jim F. led the pledge.
PSA Charlie led one verse of America.
PSA Charlie led the welcome song.
PDG Jack M. gave the invocation.
 
Our wonderful lunch consisted of shrimp, ham, soup, salad, cold cuts, vegetables, as well as bread, cookies and beverages.
 
Raffle gifts were donated by:

  • Charlie Vail.

  • PP Dan B. gave happy dollars for a quick snow storm on Saturday.
  • PP. Jim S. gave happy dollars and thanked our club for the beautiful arrangement that the club sent to him and the support he got from everyone with the passing of his mom Dorothy.
  • PP. Domenic gave happy dollars for his wife Sonya’s upcoming birthday which falls between Christmas and New Years and is always forgotten.
 
Announcements.
 
PP. Frank Smith announced Sand 4 Seniors Bucket Distribution was such a success that he now needs more volunteers because the Town of Lexington has informed us of another 60 bucket requests.
 
There will be no meetings on December 26th and January 2nd. Our next meeting will be scheduled on January 9th as well as the next board meeting.
 
There will be no meeting on January 16th in observance of MLK Day.
 
Also there will be no meeting on Monday January 23th. Instead we will have
a joint meeting on Tuesday January 24th with the Lions Club from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Knights of Columbus Heritage Hall 177 Bedford St Lexington, MA
 
The Polar Plunge will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Long Beach, Gloucester, MA. More information will follow when available.
 
Visiting Rotary Scholar Yanice Mak from Hong Kong who is doing Master's studies at BU joined for lunch and exchanged flags with President Susan and spoke to the club about her Rotary experiance.
 
Speaker
 
There was no guest speaker, but we did have a visit from Santa to help Pres. Susan collect for our annual giving. Santa collected money to send The Pine Street in and to The Lexington Food Pantry. $1,130.00 was collected another $870.00 was donated by the Rotary Club of Lexington, giving each organization $1,000.00.
 
“The Lexington High School Madrigal Singers” sang beautiful seasonal holiday songs directed by Jason Iannuzzi - Director of Choruses.
 
The 50:50 was $150 and won by Bob C. who donated the money to the Rotary Club of Lexington. (Bob, thank you for your kind act.)
 
President Susan C. rang the bell and our meeting was ended.
