This Monday was cloudy with rain lurking around the corner.  On the menu today was the standard fare of salad, cold cuts and beef pucks with a double side of starch.

There were 29 members and 5 guests.

Pledge was led by PP Jim, America was led by Diane P. and Invocation given by PDG Jack M.

Raffle Gifts provided by Edward Jones Investment, Vail Studios, Patriot Bank, Charter Financial, and Walpole Cooperative Bank.

Happy Dollars:

PP Spencer had $50 happy dollars for a successful Comedy Night, although it should be noted that the $50 was from his winnings of the door prize at the event, which he chaired, which is strange him winning, questionable.  1st VP Dave S. had $30 happy dollars for missing all of the most important events the club has had in a while (300th events, Comedy Night, etc.).

Fines:

PDG Jack proposed a fine against PP Don S for not removing his hat during the Pledge, America or the Invocation.  Not sure if any fine was ever paid, but most certainly should have.  Don’t know how, but we had 2.5 tables with no guests, having all members sitting at those tables forking over $1 each.

Announcements:

PP Murray A. was presented with the Paul Harris Fellows award, although it was unclear as to the reason for the honor.

The Club was happy to welcome one of the 2013 LHS Scholarship recipients.  Joseph Archiprete will be attending Brandeis University in the fall to study Chemistry.  Image

Speaker:

ImageBack for more after his visit to the Club in March, Bob Isenberg was our guest speaker today and was accompanied by the “5,000 Year Old Man”.  Bob is a Lexington resident and comedian.  The format for his presentation was him as a People magazine interviewer with the 5,000 YOM as his guest for questions.  Not sure what else to say on this.  (Editors comment: “Enough said.”)

50/50 Raffle of $101 was won by PP Bob O, although not present, Michelle G. tried to claim the winnings.  (Editors comment: Spoke with PP Bob O and he confirmed that if you win the 50/50 and are not present to collect, the money goes back to the club. Thanks Bob.)

Sorry I won’t be there Monday, off to Granite Links, someone has to play golf on Mondays,

Respectfully submitted, Steve M.
