On the National Holiday, Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2014, 26 Rotarians, 2 visiting Rotarians and 3 guests, gathered to break bread, rather eat corn beef and cabbage on this sunny, cold, but glorious day. The luck of the Irish was upon many of us as we shared fellowship, bantering and a “Guinness” old time!!!

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Fitness Guru Julie Powers, 1st verse of America by Pavarotti Charlie Vail, Invocation by Pope Wanabee, PP District Governor Jack and Bulletin writer none other than Jack Clancy’s ghost writer, PP John.

Twenty Happy dollars was provided by PP Ed for being 75% Irish, wonder how much he would have donated had he been 100%, PDG Jack paid $20 for having two grandchildren playing in the hockey playoffs and freezing his posterior watching  them in cold rinks, hey, no oil heat in those facilities, too bad!!. Visiting guest McFarland, sorry I missed his first name; I had too many Jamison’s before the meeting, for the cold weather and for PP Dave escaping to Florida. Does anybody think it is a problem when you are in the oil business and you take a long vacation during cold weather?? The way I look at it, if you can survive without the person during busy season, you may be able to survive without this person for the entire year!!! A point well worth pondering in my opinion, hahaha, I can see the steam bursting from his ears

Alto singer PP Dan lead the choir in the Welcome song, I would give it a B minus, if we could only get PP Bob and PP Murry to just mouth the words, we may be able to achieve a grade of A.

Raffle gifts were provided by Vail "I want to turn your hair blue" Studios...., Colonial "I guarantee I miss quote you, always" Times...., Eagle "better known as Evil" Bank...., Marian "I will support you all the way to the electric chair" Abraham Law... And Rotary "come now, come all" Club of Lexington. BTW, while we are on the subject of Evil Bank, Representative Michele Galbiati came to the meeting late, on purpose, so she would not have the honor of being the bulletin writer. She skated on the fine because PP Jim was preoccupied with corn beef and cabbage. Then she whines about not receiving the email regarding St. Patrick’s Day, do you live in a bubble and it is not our fault you only work 10 hours a week. This scribe objects, and to make matters worse, she wins the 50/50 and still does not offer retribution…….collection expected next week.

PP John initiated a fine for all those not wearing ‘”visible” green and disrespecting the National Holiday. It would be scary to see “non-visible “ attire by some members, Yikes!!!

Incoming head honcho, 1st Vice President, deviant gambler, Dave Siekman, discussed the “for entertainment purposes only” NCAA bracket pool. All are encouraged to donate, deadline Thursday, 12:00pm.

ImageGuest speaker today was Julia Garcia from Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts and she brought another member of her organization, ImageLaurie Mendoza. Lots of trouble with technology as webmaster PP Dan was sunning himself in Bora Bora. Julia started with a pop quiz which was failed miserably by PDG Jack’s table because they were too busy stuffing their faces with girl scout cookies.  Girl Scouts of America follow a “three C model”, Character, Courage and Confidence. Julia focused on the Community Partnership initiative she is spearheading. This program is looking for facilitators from the community, faith based organization, libraries, companies and individuals that can mentor individuals for approximately 3 hours per week for an 8-10 week program. This program is for girl scouts that have specific interests outside the normal Girl Scout program.

Faithfully submitted, your scribble, PP John O
