On a bright, clear sunny day, with outdoor temperatures in the low 80’s and low humidity, President Dave opened the meeting. He was in a great mood, and seemed happy. Maybe he knew he was going to win the 50/50? (Actually, happy is his usual mood!). The lunch choices were good, also as usual.

The pledge was let by Dominic S, dentist Dan lead in America- on key, and dentist Don led the invocation after finding a new prayer from non-sectarian  sources!

PP Spencer started off happy dollars after recovering from an infection, PP Bill C had a new puzzler for the club, using dental materials, no less! Bill gave credit to dentist Murry for providing a source for rubber dam material for classroom use. Nick C gave $5.00 happy dollars just because he was happy, as he always seems to be. What a nice attitude! PP Doug H reported that he had communications from Rotary 105th Convention in Sydney that there is more progress on Polio. Recent discoveries are that there are three variations of the Polio virus worldwide, and that two of them have not shown up for 3 years! One type still exists in the population. The last remaining countries where Polio exists in a population are Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nigeria. Armed guards now accompany vaccination teams where needed. PP Doug has always kept us posted on the latest news from Rotary.

President Dave reported that Sept will be a 100% attendance goal for the club. During the month we will have a club assembly, a visit from the District Gov., and 3 days of Bar BQ for seniors on Sept 16, 17 & 18. This should make it possible for all to have 100% attendance for September. President Dave reported we got thanks from Lexington Symphony, from a scholarship recipient and the club will be part of a "Friends Forever” meeting in October.

A special auction was held for President Dave’s tickets to a pre-season Patriots game, with Bob C winning the bid. At least at this game he is guaranteed not seeing another Red Sox loss!

ImageNew member Andrew Bergmann was our classification speaker today. He has always been interested in technology, home entertainment systems, and working with people. He is the Home Tech Support Manager for “Geek Housecalls” in Burlington, your source for Home Tech support. They also support a number of companies, and can have as many as 25-30 techs on the road at one time. They have their own fleet of cars. His goal is to be pro-active, and have his clients avoid issues with their PC’s Macs, smartphones, networks, and even home entertainment systems before they become a big problem. He is quite enthusiastic and obviously enjoys what he is doing.

Raffle prizes were supplied by Vail Studios, Lexington Ace Hardware, Arlex Oil, Walpole Co-Op bank, Peoples United Bank, and our club.

The 50/50 was won by Pres. Dave. Dentist Dave had no public comments at this meeting, but you can always count on the dentists to contribute at every meeting.
