On a sunny Monday afternoon, the weekly “chatty kathy” group, better known as the Rotary Club of Lexington, took place under the supervision of President David. He meekly rang the bell, then gave the wrong date and the meeting was off to a resounding start.  In attendance were 31 Rotarians and 1 guests, an Irish lad to boot, can’t get enough of that ethnic group. Waxy’s O’Connor’s provided Chicken, ziti and PP Dave favorite, broccoli, yum, yum!! Other choices include a deli spread, salad, for those of your looking to keep that “girlish figure” and of course cookies for those of you who have given up.  Our Pledge was led by PP Spencer, First verse of America by “The Shining Star wanabe”, PP Dan Busa, Invocation by PDG Jack and this author as your scribe for the day.

 

A moment of silence was offer for Sara Anne Sherman, daughter of PP Don and his wife Barbara, passing on September 2, 2014. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this most difficult time.

 

Happy dollars were offered by Susan Carabbio for her daughter’s journey to college, President Dave and PP Spencer for kids in crayon school, PP Nick was fined for TV advertising by “Lexington Ace guru” Bob Cunningham, PP Dan Busa paid dollars for spending 5 days on jury duty and correcting PP Jack on the difference between a Seder and Shiva, huh?, a bunch of members for vacations, so many I could not keep up. Does anybody work besides me??

 

Raffle gifts were provided by Lexington, “ it’s almost time for a snow blower, Ace Hardware, PP Bill “ I have yet to pass one of his tests” Cassel, Vail “ I keep the blue hairs in style” Studios,  Walpole, “is that in Massachusetts”, Co-operative Bank, Arlex “ cold weather is coming” Oil Company and resident Rotarian foundation guru PP Doug. Winners were Steve Kirkland, PP Murray, and PP Dan twice, once for himself, once filling in for the invisible PP Dave E and of course the fix was in and President Dave also won.

 

President David announced that our District Governor would be in attendance at next Monday meeting, he would like a large turnout. He also read three thank you notes and announced that the three barbeque dates have been set, 9/23, 9/24 & 9/25. Please sign up for at least one with “missing in action” PP Jim.
