On a cool, sunny fall day, 28 Lexington Rotarians, and 1 guest Rotarian gathered for our regular weekly meeting. President David rang the bell at 12:30.

PP Spencer B. led the pledge, Charlie V. led one verse of America and welcome song. PE Domenic S. gave the invocation.

Our lunch consisted of ziti with broccoli and chicken, garden salad, cold cuts, vegetables, as well as bread, cookies and beverages.

Raffle gifts were donated by, PP Doug H., Arlex Oil, Brookhaven of Lexington, Connie N., Vail Studios, and Wagon Wheel

Our speaker guest was Sally Spiers, Development Director of Lovelane.

Fines & Happy Dollars

  • PP Don M. gave happy dollars for having his daughter home after a Patriots win and also for the successful cookout hosting our Friends Forever from Ireland.
  • PP Nick M. gave happy dollars because he visited a Moose Club.
  • PP Frank S. gave happy dollars for his daughter winning an MVP in volleyball.
  • PP Dave B. gave happy dollars for attending the Patriots game.

Announcements

  • SA Steve M. gave the raffle ticket update and encouraged people to give bucket prizes.
  • 1st VP Susan C. made an announcement for the Veterans Breakfast which will be held on November 8, 2014 at St. Brigid’s Parish Keilty Hall. Rotarians must wear white shirts and black pants. Please report no later than 8:00 AM.
  • PP Frank Smith announced our new program “Sand for Seniors” which will provide sand and buckets from our club.
  • President Dave S. announced the joint Lexington / Burlington meeting on November 24, 2014 at Wax’s O’Connor’s.

ImageOur guest speaker, Sally Spiers, Development Director of Lovelane spoke to us about their organization located in Lincoln, MA, incorporated in 1992 as a nonprofit organization, it is a supportive environment, which provides high-quality therapeutic horseback riding to achieve occupational, physical, speech, cognitive and other therapeutic gains, focusing on children with special needs.Lovelane currently has 13 licensed riding instructors and provides more than 4,400 individual therapeutic riding sessions a year to children and young adults from 41 Metro West and greater Boston communities.

 

The 50:50 was $75 and won by PP Murry.

President Dave rang the bell and our meeting was ended.
