The Making of Patriots’ Day 2023

The 2022 Patriots’ Day Parade returned after a three-year absence and was a smashing success. When something runs smoothly, we tend to assume that it was no big deal to put together. Patriots’ Day is a big deal!  Town Celebrations Committee members Lorain Marquis and Linda Dixon will describe the behind-the-scenes work of the committee to produce and coordinate our signature Patriots’ Day Weekend, and will  offer a preview of Patriots’ Day 2023.

Lorain Marquis, a 50-year resident of Lexington, has two sons and four grandchildren.  She began her accounting career at 17 and worked at Boston Federal Savings Bank for over 25 years.  Now an active volunteer, Lorain is the former chair and member of the Town Celebrations Committee. She is Treasurer of the Lexington Veterans Association, Associate of the Hanscom Spouses Club, and board member of the Friends of the Council on Aging.  She is active at St. Brigid’s Church.

Linda Dixon served for 20 years in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.  She serves on the Town Celebrations Committee, as President of the Lexington Veterans Association, and Chair of the Monuments and Memorials Committee.  Linda served as Secretary to the Board of Trustees at Tufts University and before that spent 15 years as a market research consultant.  She is a graduate of Tufts University and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts and is a former President of the Tufts Alumni Association.
