Speaks to Rotary.

On a cool and cloudy March day, 20 Lexington Rotarians, our favorite Visiting Rotarian PP Paul Thibeault, Burlington club, and our speaker enjoyed lunch.

PP Jim S. led the Pledge; the first verse of America was by Charlie V., and the invocation by PP Don S.

Happy dollars:
  • Pres. Domenic S. gave dollars in memory of his father in law who passed away last week.
  • PP Jim S. gave some happy dollars for having 3 Dentist at his table.
  • PP Spencer B. gave happy dollars for a trip and then some dollars for his son’s first scar, something about a 4 iron involved, likely story.

Announcements:
  • PDG Jack M. gave an update on the health of former Rotarian and PP Jim K. Let's keep him in our prayers.
  • PP Dave S. is starting up the March Madness Pool.  He emailed out the details and you have until Thursday morning to get your picks in. PP Dave S. said you can do it on line or get him your picks and he will enter them.  This is a nice fundraiser for the club, $20 per entry.
  • P Domenic S. reminds us to keep our dues up to date.
  • Ads for Comedy Night should be in two weeks before Comedy Night.  PP Spencer B. will have the tickets next week.
  • The club will be at Patriots Day this year and we are hoping to have the Old Guard for Lunch the Saturday of Patriots Day at Brookhaven, still waiting for final determination.
  • Reminder, May 9 is Visitor’s Day, bring a guest, great speaker. MBTA Police Officer - Ret. Dick Donahue

Raffle Donations were from the Walpole Cooperative, Eagle Bank, Peoples Bank, and Patriot Community Bank.

Our speaker was Lexington’s Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Mary Czajkowski.  She was thoroughly introduced by PP Murry A.  She joined the Lexington School system on July 1, 2015.  She has a lot of experience having been superintendent of schools in Agawam and Barnstable.  She received a prestigious Leadership Award from the Massachusetts Superintendents of Schools in 2015.  She also taught for 16 years.

Dr. Czajkowski touched upon the following: School Safety and Security.  She is presenting at the WBZ Business Breakfast on March 24, 2016.  She prides herself on being involved in the community and bringing people together.  She was a Rotarian in the other two towns.  Her goals can be summarized as: Continue education excellence, reduce student stress and deal with enrollment growth.

50/50 was won by Treasurer Donna

Next meeting March 21, 2016 at Minuteman High School, the meeting after that is March 28, 2016 at the new Lexington Community Center.

Respectfully submitted PP Jim F.
