On a sunny and beautiful spring afternoonImage

Just one month before summer and June

30 Rotarians came together to meet

One visiting Rotarian and one guest they did welcome and greet

There was chicken and broccoli and ziti to eat

And sandwiches filled with all kinds of good meat

Me? I had a salad filling my plate

Listening to President Dave at the front narrate

The Pledge was led by Doctor Brother the dentist

Not all the off-key voices in the room would prevent us

From singing the first Verse of America led by Steve M rather loudly

Although we can’t sing, we sang it quite proudly

PDG Jack led the invocation with care

Then we all sat down to start this affair

Raffle gifts from Walpole Co-Op and Patriot Bank set the pace

And were followed by the club, Edward Jones, and a hardware shop called Ace

Happy Dollars and fines started flowing

Starting with PP Bob S who was still glowing

From winning the White Tricorne Hat

For which we all say good job and congrats!

They were followed quite quickly by dollars from

PP Dan B and Connie N for lack of raffle collection

More dollars came from Doug, Bob, and Michelle Galbiati

And good luck dollars for Susan’s daughter in her surgery

I am getting tired and am running out of rhymes

You can look below for dates and times

Of upcoming events and details on our speaker

My desire to continue this poem gets much weaker

As we ended the meeting (what a lovely extravaganza)

Also we end these 8 little stanzas

The meeting ended with PE Jim S winning 80 dollars

Then donate it to the speaker what a gentleman and scholar!

Our speaker was Gail Endos from Our Space www.ourspacerocks.org.  Our Space goes into local hospitals and homes to help children undergoing cancer Imagetreatment heal through art.  Gail and her friend, Peggy, started the organization after both were diagnosed with cancer and used art themselves to heal.  The goal is simply to have fun and to get the children to stop thinking of himself or herself as a patient, even if just for a little while.  They typically include more than just the patient, especially at the home visits where the whole family and even friends will participate.  They will soon be opening up to other life threatening diseases.

All their services are free so they are always soliciting donations.  They are a 501(c)3 organization but their status is currently on hold due to an IRS delay.  Alan A will let us know when they get their status back if you wish to contribute a tax deductible donation.

Finally, if you know of any children that may benefit from their services, please pass along Our Space’s name as they are always looking to help more kids.  Our Space can also be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/OurSpaceInc.
