On September 30, a beautiful sunny 68 degree autumn day, President Jim called the meeting to order. For lunch we enjoyed Caesar salad, cold cuts, and pumpkin ravioli. There were 28 Lexington Rotarians and no guests or visiting Rotarians.

Raffle gifts were donated by Lexington Ace Hardware, Encharter Insurance, Eagle Bank, Arlex Oil, Patriot Bank, and Lexington Periodontics.

Pledge was led by Julie P, Ist verse of America by Charlie V, and Invocation by PDG Jack M.

Happy dollars flowed like apple cider. Spencer B $10 for opportunity to pick apples with his children and playing golf at the Woburn CC (an exclusive club he felt privileged to be allowed to enter). Bob C $10 for his recent move. Alan A $20 for trip to Vegas and recent fun event on Lansdowne St. PP Dan B $5 for his vacation in California and $15 for superb accuracy in dropping a knife straight down on his toe while playing chicken with his femoral artery. Diane P $7 celebrating her 7 year wedding anniversary, PP Don M $5 for a great Patriot win over Atlanta followed by PP Nick C for $4 for the win. President elect Dave S donated $10 for something I’m sure was important. Sergeant-at-Arms Connie N was fined for failing to pick up $ from one of the tables

President Jim announced that DG John Hall congratulates us on our recent 100% club member donation to the Rotary Foundation. We were the first club in the district to achieve this.  It’s the DG’s goal to get 100% participation from every member in every club in the district. If this happens we will be the first district ever to have achieved this.

The list of members volunteering to help with the senior Bar-B-Que for the Countryside (Tuesday), Greeley (Wednesday) and Vynebrooke (Thursday) villages was handed out. If you have not signed up, you can contact coordinators President Jim Shaw for Tuesday and Thursday, Meaghan Murphy for Wednesday. Thanks go out to PP Jim F and Brookhaven for donation of the food for these three events.

The official date for the club $$$ raffle will be November 22. Request was made for bucket raffle gifts for the event.

The Christmas/Holiday party date is December 16th

Web master PP Dan B is pleased to have anyone in the club tell him of any errors or omissions in the web site, apparently except for PP Doug H.

Julie P announced that the garden project at Vynebrooke Village will be on October 19. President Jim wants this to be a 100% club participation project. Exact start time will be announced. PP Nick C graciously offered to provide needed materials and extra manpower to finish the job. I think he feels we are either too out of shape to finish it or we will be so busy shooting the bull that we won’t get much done.

President Jim S announced that he, PP Doug H, and PP Dave Sears will be attending the District Foundation meeting this Wednesday and welcome anyone else who would like to attend. Contact President Jim if you would like to attend this meeting.

President Jim raffled off two sets of two tickets for Beetlejuice which were picked up by PPs Nick C and Dan B for $40 each pair (half the ticket price!). Personally I have a problem drinking juice made from a bug irrespective of price.

PP Dave E once again (two weeks in a row) won $80 in the 50:50. That’s because we allow him 4 tickets for $20. Given his winning streak I think he should only be allowed 1 ticket for $20!

There was No Speaker today (Boy, did I luck out!)

Respectfully

PP David B
