District Governor Peter Simonsen visits The Rotary Club of Lexington

On a cool, sunny late summer day 30 Lexington Rotarians, 1 visiting Rotarian and 3 guests enjoyed a luncheon of chicken parmesan, pasta and salad. This was the annual visit by our District Governor Peter Simonsen and his Assistant Governor Jim Major.

Contributors to the Fines and Happy Dollars coffers included PP Jim S., PP Bob O., Connie N. and DG Peter ( just happy to be with us). No one was fined today (a first for our club no doubt). I guess we were on our good behavior being that the DG was present…

Raffle gifts were donated by Lexington Ace Hardware, Vail Studios, PP Bill Cassell, Walpole Cooperative Bank, Arlex Oil and the Lexington Rotary Club. The 50-50 raffle was won by Ingrid U. our visiting Rotarian who recently Imagemoved here from Norway. She graciously donated the $90 back to the club.

Assistant District Governor Jim Major introduced District Governor Peter Simonsen from the Hamilton-Wenham club. DG Peter reminded us that the deadline for District Governor applications is Oct. 15th. He emphasized the theme of President Gay C.K. Huang, “Light Up Rotary”, saying it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness. He went on to sImageummarize District activities and services. His goals for his year are to increase individual club membership, make meetings fun, have better communications between the District and the member clubs and increase Foundation support.

Important reminder: Senior Barbecue dates are September 23, 24 and 25th. If you haven’t yet signed up please contact PP Jim Shaw and let him know when you can help. Set –up time is 4:30 and we should start serving a 5:00.

The Veterans Breakfast will be on November 8th. Start time around 8AM.

Pres Dave has sent out a summary of the Club assembly notes. Check your e-mail if you need to review them.
