Rotary Club of Lexington hosts "Friends Forever USA" for the day.

On a sunny October day, 28 Lexington Rotarians and 13 Guests enjoyed lunch.

2nd VP Lori M. led the Pledge; the first verse of America was by PP Dan O., and the invocation by Bob C.

Happy dollars were paid by: PP Frank S. who asked that we watch Bench, which is a show that his son Ben is writing for, on the USA Network at 10:30 PM Tuesday, DVR it or place your VCR Tape in the VCR, press record, don’t tape over anything important.  PE Dom S. paid for an upcoming Birthday.  PP Jim F. paid for more publicity of the WWII Book.  PP Dan B. paid happy/sad (you have to be a fellow Sicilian to get this) for his Cousin Guy Busa who passed away last week.  And SA Steve M. paid happy dollars for his kid’s hockey interests.

Raffle Donations were from Rotary Club of Lexington, Geek Housecalls, Walpole Cooperative Bank, Arlex Oil, Brookhaven, Vail Studios, Encharter Insurance and PP Doug H.

P Dave S. updated the group on upcoming events:  Saturday November 8th is the Veterans Day Breakfast at St. Brigids at 8am.  Tuesday November 11th is a Veterans Day Ceremony starting at 10am and a cake at 11am.  November 24th is the Joint Meeting with Burlington in Lexington.  Raffle tickets are due back, hopefully sold, to SA Steve M. soon.  Please don’t wait for the last minute.  We are still looking for Bucket Gifts.

ImageOur speaker today was Jules LeBlanc the US Representative of Friends for Ever.  She was Imagethere with ten kids from Northern Ireland.  Jules has been working with Friends for Ever for two years, last year in New Orleans.  She spoke about the great experience the kids had and that they bring back this experience when they return home.  The kids stay for two weeks, stay together cooking and talking.  They have an event every day but they don’t hear what it is until the night before.  Two students spoke on behalf of the program.  They spoke about their experiences and how much this program means to them.  They will continue to meet with each other after they return home.  The group thanked the Rotary Club for sponsoring them, for doing the Liberty Ride, Lunch, and then a movie at 2pm, then a BBQ at PP Don M’s. house.

50/50 was won by Connie N.

Next meeting November 3, 2014.

Respectfully submitted PP Jim F.
